HARTSVILLE – Choice Realty opened an office in downtown Hartsville, owned and operated by Jonathan and Susan Lee.

The real estate office is located at 118 N. Fifth St. in Hartsville.

Jonathan is responsible broker and Susan is Vice President of Operations and property management. The real estate company in Hartsville is open for less than a month. She commercial, residential, investment property, real estate sales and property management.

“This is our second location,” said Jonathan Lee.

The company was founded in 2004 in Charleston.

In the mid 90s, Jonathan worked at Sonoco in the corporate communications department. He and his wife decided to return to Hartsville and open a second location of their real estate company.

Lee said that her mother had grown up in Hartsville and had family ties here. He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. Susan Lee is originally from New York. She moved to Charleston in 2009.

“Hartsville is a big city,” he said.

There is a strong real estate market in Hartsville, has he said.

Susan Lee said that there was actually a shortage of homes to buy and a serious shortage of rental properties and with the price of materials, it was not the right time to build.

She said the agency is the only real estate management company authorized in Hartsville. It specializes in the search for investment properties. There are many people who want to invest in multifamily properties, she said, adding that they had a Charleston client who needed to reinvest and buy 14 properties in Hartsville, they manage.

“We also bought our own properties,” she said. “We like to have single family homes, but we duplexes. We are always looking to buy properties. We have a lot of experience in renovation and in collaboration with entrepreneurs. My background is in design inside. I can help in staging homes for sale.

She said the agency has received referrals from other real estate agents who are not property management.

She said that her husband knows very well in terms of investment. He is experienced in assisting investors and specializes in commercial properties, but also has experience in residential properties.

“We would like to hire a solid residential agent to add to the company,” she said. But for now, there are two of them at the office.

She said that what distinguishes them is their experience on the markets, large and small, as well as their commitment, trust and relationships.

“We are already engaged in the region for about a year,” she said.

They are involved in the community. Susan Lee served on Kalmia Gardens Board of Directors for three years. Jonathan Lee is a member of the Kiwanis Club and serves on the board of Black Creek Arts.

He said that Black Creek Arts is one of the things that attracted them to the city center. It uses potter and the potter’s wheel in Black Creek. It was only a few doors. He said that the YMCA pool was another attraction and Susan Lee wanted to feel as part of the city center.

Lee had five children, aged 18 to 28 years.

The opening hours are 10 am to 17 pm Monday to Friday and after hours by appointment on weekends.
